Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985
“Hot You’re Cool” is a 1985 single released on I.R.S. Records by English new wave band, formed in Birmingham General Public. The song was the fifth and final single from the band’s 1984 debut LP “All The Rage”. “Hot You’re Cool” reached #16 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Chart on June 22, 1985, spending nine weeks on the survey. The record did not chart in the UK.
A music video was not released for this single.

Thanks again, Paul, for this 12-inch again!! Like what, Johnny L, said below, I believe the Latin Rascals did the extraordinary edits on this record. This duo will forever be near and dear to my heart. The way they added cut and splice percussion onto tracks is remarkable! They influenced so many with their edits and tricked-out productions! I so would love them to be the center of a documentary along with other “legends of the blade” to get the spotlight, credit, and love for what they did!! Great Arthur Baker dub with TR-808 bubbling along with just reverb in certain sections. This dub also features what sounds like uncredited Latin Rascals edits. They were starting to do edits for Arthur Baker at Shakedown Studios around the time of this track (1984). Thanks for sharing.

I wasn’t aware of the group until some of their 1994/95 music output. So this is a nice surprise to hear this single from their early release period.
Arthur Baker is the icing on the cake too.

Boah, mittlerweile alles nur noch Schrott, den keiner kennt, außer bei den Amis, aber nicht in Europa. Und wenn man mal einen Wunsch hat, kommt nichts. Es gibt so viele tolle Songs aus den 80er Jahren als Extended Versionen.
Translation:
Wow, now it’s all just junk that nobody knows, except among the Americans, but not in Europe. And if you ever have a wish, nothing comes. There are so many great songs from the 80s as extended versions.

This song popping into view on my computer screen is making me enormously happy!! I just love this record! Arthur Baker’s mix is excellent and it’s a perfect song for the summer. Dearest Martika, I sincerely want to thank you for your enthusiasm over this record. It’s been a favorite of mine since discovering it in a record shop many years ago. It was Arthur Baker’s name on the credits that gravitated me to purchase the disc! I already loved “Tenderness” so this was the perfect purchase. I’ve always lamented that the record didn’t get too much love in Pop circles, however, it slammed in the clubs! There were a handful of remixers in the 80s and 90s that certainly knew how to select and enhance the best elements of a song to make it dancefloor masterpiece, and Arthur Baker was definitely amongst the best of them! And Paul certainly knows how to pick them!
