The Hotel Oberkirch am Munsterplatz is a historic and privately run hotel located in Freiburgs old quarter, opposite the famous cathedral. The hotel serves delicious regional cuisine from breakfast to dinner. Rooms are traditionally designed and have en-suite facilities, free broadband internet access, and air-conditioning.

Top Lage, Top Service, Top Essen - einfach hervorragend!---Ich hoffe, das entspricht Ihren Vorstellungen!(Translated by Google)I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on Münsterplatz recently and would highly recommend it. The location is simply unbeatable, right on Münsterplatz - ideal for a visit after a walk through the city. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the stay particularly pleasant. The food was also of the highest quality. I ordered the veal schnitzel with fries, and it was absolutely delicious - perfectly cooked and very tasty. This restaurant is definitely an insider tip. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by. Top location, top service, top food - simply outstanding!---I hope this meets your expectations!

We rushed into Freiburg to find something to eat and sadly we found this. Overpriced and mediocre staff. It seemed that the waiters were very unmotivated and even mildly rude when we asked simple question about the meal or the way to the lavatory. At one point they were even arguing badly with some customers and they were furious. The selection of dishes is small and overly expensive, the cheapest thing was the salad… which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Should‘ve looked around more before deciding to eat here.

Nicely located restaurant, but not very welcoming. We booked a table ahead for 2 persons, but we wanted to sit outside. When a table of 5 became free, as we were standing just outside, the staff advised us that they wanted to keep it for a bigger group. When we ordered a large meal and good wine, their attitude changed.

We loved our experience at this hotel. The price was great for such an awesome location. The staff are also friendly and accommodating! Will definitely stay again the next time I visit Freiburg.

This is a review of the restaurant only. We have been to Freiburg many times, yet this was our first meal at Hotel Oberkirch. It will not be our last--food was splendid German cuisine. Atmosphere is relaxed, upscale and quiet. I had a flavorful venison stew, my wife had fish.

I'm rating the gastronomy here and not the hotel! The long one is great and right next to Freiburg Cathedral. We were served very friendly and courteously here. The dishes, almost all of which revolved around asparagus, were very tasty and creative! There are negative points for the fact that the bread was very dark (see photo), the high price is probably based on the length and that the service could have been more attentive.

Great spot, friendly staff and above all: excellent gnocchi fully home made from scratch. To explain: I rarely finish my plate where ever I eat but this plate was empty within 20minutes (my husband and son were still eating) and that's saying something as I have an unclassified eating disorder. I HIGHLY recommend.

We went there in December. We went to eat at their restaurant but didn't stay at their hotel. The service was quick. The waiters were very accommodating and friendly. They even gave us a pack of tea because it was after Christmas. The food was of good quality and quantity. Really worth it for its price. The sausage were really tasty, the salad and the stuffed food that is in the picture.

This review is about the restaurant and not the hotel. This place offers an authentic German dining experience and food was great. Directly at Münsterplatz in a charming old building. Inside everything is well-preserved, cozy ambiance with rustic decor. Overall friendly staff but at times it felt that they were not very professional addressing a couple of issues we had regarding orders.

Fantastic setting in the Munsterplatz overlooking the beautiful cathedral. It's possible to drop luggage off and park in a nearby multi-storey. Hade a delicious lunch sitting in the square and breakfast offered plenty of choice including fresh cooked eggs. The room was super, roomy and well equipped with great views over the cathedral. Staff were all efficient and friendly.

It's all about the restaurant:The location is great, conditions were friendly and quick, the wine selection was good. The location is absolutely great. However, the vegetarian salad was very overpriced at €25 and nothing special from a culinary point of view.

Can't say about the rooms because I didn't stay. The restaurant however was brilliant. Lovely snug style seating, excellent food and much more than helpful people work there. I expect the rooms are similarly well run and hope to stay there some day.

The good Mrs. Staiger enchanted us with her friendly manner. Always with a smile on her face, she brightened our evening not only with her incredibly good looks, but also with the alcohol we acquired through her hard-working hands. The public viewing in the neighboring restaurant was also clearly visible from our table. All in all, it was a great experience that is second to none.

Wir waren allerdings schon mal dort und waren sehr zufrieden - vielleicht war es einfach der falsche Tag.🤷🏼‍♂️ Probierts dennoch aus(Translated by Google)Judging the restaurant and not the hotelEat:I had the veal schnitzel with potato salad and thought it was ok, but for me the meat could have had a little more flavor. The small green one was served as a mixed bag but it was good - I thought it tasted good. My wife's food wasn't quite to her liking (not seasoned enough) - salt was fine.Service:Very friendly service staffLocation:Traditional restaurant with a very nice outdoor area. I like it very much and very clean toilets.Conclusion:Price/performance wasn't right for me. However, we have been there before and were very satisfied - maybe it was just the wrong day.🤷🏼‍♂️ Give it a try anyway

So… I have given a 1 star as the treatment was awful but the food was tasty. I ordered close to the kitchen closing and ordered traditionally. Jerome mushroom bruschetta and a pork loin Spätzle. I am on my own and was looking forward to food, the first course was lovely and then the second course arrived and was incorrect (see picture). I informed them of the error and then was told that the kitchen was closed and basically that was that. I mean I get that there might not be anything that can be done (regarding the pasta) but they could add the pork to the dish. After a lot of back and forth the dish came back out with pork on it and after starting to eat I found a hair in the dish. Not the end of the world for me but to be told when I returned it that it wasn’t a hair (see top of the plate on the third picture) and it was growth from one of the mushrooms as they are from the forest nearby was patronising to say the least. After all of this they charged full price… safe to say avoid.

The beautiful atmosphere, the great location: all of this pales when an average plate of cheese spaetzle costs 22 euros. And that's just one of many absurd moon prices. Excited to see how long the guests put up with this madness. And that doesn't just apply here.

Also öffentliches Parkhaus, einige Minuten entfernt. The location is of course brilliant. However, parking spaces are advertised at the house, but no one has explained that you have to reserve them in advance. So public parking garage a few minutes away.Hotel is getting old. Rooms very small and carpeted everywhere. The gentleman at reception would do well with more hospitality.Breakfast was OK, but nothing more. 2 types of white flour rolls, that's it. The sausage platter was already emptied 45 minutes before the end and nothing was refilled.

This little gem of a hotel lies in the square surrounding the cathedral. Surrounded by restaurants and ice cream shops, it is convenient for a lovely day of strolling. My room was cozy and clean with an apple, a rose, and a comfortable bed. The proprietors were lovely and most helpful. I would gladly stay here again!

Our experience starts with the adventure of arriving with the car at their "parking" hotel, driving through the city center, in the pedestrian area, with only four spots, if you arrive late that 8 pm, you need to find a city parking place because you are not allowed to park after that hour because of the neighbours, even if you paid for it.After a long journey, we want it to eat at their restaurant, the waitress was very rude and throw the meniu on the table very offended, we observe that she had same behavior with the rest of the clients. The breakfast was very poor and the big surprise was that we take some ham who small, he told to the staff about this but they did not care. Next day at the breakfast, same story but with a mellow, we decide not order anything in this restaurant because our health was in danger.About the rooms, very clean but we had big problems about the noise because at 7 am every morning the maid start cleaning in the halls with the vacuum.Their restaurant is closed on Sundays, despite this we eat and enjoy a good time at the restaurant next to them. From our experience, We don't recomand this place !

Wir kommen gerne wieder!(Translated by Google)A jewel, a place with heart, that's what this hotel and restaurant says best in my opinion. We had been back in Freiburg for a long time and spent one night in Oberkirch in the Haus am Münster with a room with a direct view of the Minster. You have to know that the Oberkirch offers both, a house with rooms and a view directly onto the cathedral and one down an alley. I find the location with a view of the cathedral unique. Booking is worth it for that alone. But even more so for a journey back in time to classic German hotel cosiness, which is rarely found today. An icon of the good old days. If you like that, you've come to the right place, but if you want a modern ambience and find time-honored interiors to be shabby, this is the wrong place for you. The service is extremely friendly and personable. Here you see yourself as a host and not as a service provider. I was particularly impressed by the very cozy dining room. There is this cozy corner with the dignitaries' photos of the guests from the past on the cozy bench at the back with a view of the tiled stove and the front of the Münsterplatz, pure well-being. The cuisine is classic German cuisine at its best. I had medallions of beef fillet with Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and melted onions, fillet couldn't be fresher or better. And Viennese schnitzel of veal, sliced perfectly thin, the way it should be, wonderfully crispy breading and classic, just as it is served in the place of origin (just google it) with the obligatory Viennese side dish of anchovies, capers and lemon for seasoning as needed. Where else can you find that in Germany? Just perfect. Matching the classic German cuisine also at breakfast, that the omelet! naturally ! is served fried in butter instead of the usual sprayed fat from a plastic bottle that is so common today. This and other things make the subtle and pleasant difference to classic German cuisine. And of course Black Forest cake for dessert. And I tend to be a picky guest when it comes to cuisine. A big thank you to the friendly and efficient team. We'd love to come back!
